The Rocka, Southsea: Signs and features

The Rocka, Southsea: Signs and features

The Rocka, international kitchen & bar, is creative and welcoming restaurant in Southsea. With over 20 years of experience in a mixture of independent, branded, international, and high volume restaurants; Chef Alecio decided it was time to launch his long awaited restaurant. It’s a project with Mario Figueiredo that shows unique creative culinary style mixed with authentic hospitality.

For The Rocka, we designed, made, and installed a range of signs and features. From the outside you can see the main, trough-light illuminated sign on the building’s facia. Below it a neon LED open sign to welcome guests. Once inside, the space is filled with fantastic décor. The Rocka logo is carefully placed, so as to no overwhelm; but be a subtle presence, and visible in photographs taken inside the restaurant. Towards the back, there is a feature wall with a dimmable, LED lit The Rocka logo. Be sure to check out The Rocka, Southsea; see our work and have a delicious bite to eat.

Ocean Infinity, Southampton: Flex and window signs

Ocean Infinity, Southampton: Flex and window signs

Ocean Infinity are an American marine robotics company, based in Austin, Texas and Southampton. The Southampton location is a new, huge purpose-built facility. Our job was to design, build, and install the signs. Though the package only comprises of three signs, this was no small task. The first sign uses built up lettering. We fit these letters directly to the glass, above the revolving door of the main entrance. The second and third signs are both flex boxes, shaped to match the Ocean Infinity logo They have LED internal lighting, to make them glow. Just to give you an idea of size, one of these infinity signs is six metres wide and three metres high… but, that’s the small one.

The main entrance sign is the words Ocean Infinity, made from built up letters. This is the sprayed white. The inside of the windows has reversed white vinyl applied. We then stick each letter to the glass, in line with the white vinyl. To give you an idea of size; the pane of glass the letters attached to, is 4 metres square.

Next up are the infinity signs. These are identical in all but scale. The smaller of the two is white, and measures 5.9 across and 3 metres high. However, the larger, blue sign, measures 9.6 metres across and 4.8 metres high. Of course, the number of LEDs inside has increased to match the scaling. Each sign has multiple sections; six for the small and and ten for the large. Each section has it’s own LED circuit. We fit the sections to the cladding. Then we link the sections to the transformers, inside the building. Also, to minimise losses, we positioned the transformers directly behind each sign.

Finest, Farlington – Signs, plaques, & wall art

Finest, Farlington – Signs, plaques, & wall art

Finest decided to move to a new, larger premises and required new signs to match the scale of the building. So we provided them with a package including large, flex signs and a post sign for the exterior of the building. Internally they required a counter top and fascia for their sales area. Also, behind the counter, and at the top of their stairs would be some 3D plaques of their logo. In the main office would be wall art to highlight some of their work to new clients.

Finest have been building a proud reputation for over 15 years, as a bespoke windows and door manufacturer and installer. Finest are a leading home manufacturer and installer, every job is important to them. They offer a personalised service to every customer, carrying out work to the highest quality and taking care to leave your home clean and tidy.

Our package for Finest

On the outside of the building are three flex face signs. The largest is 10 metres long. The all feature digitally printed and cut vinyl graphics. In addition, to compliment the flex signs, there is a post sign with a 3 metre by 1.5 metre panel. Along the wall of the building are customer parking signs. Finally, above the entrance is a customer entrance waypoint sign.

When you enter the premises you are greeted by a large 3D logo. Below this 3D plaque is a counter with a polished Staron surface and an image displaying one of Finest’s installations. Likewise, up the stairs is a second, smaller 3D plaque. Both of the plaques are constructed of CNC cut foam and aluminium composite. . The in the main managerial office are two examples of wall art. These displays show more of Finest’s work. Finest are pleased with the wall art, that they are looking to have another wall done in a different office.

Mr Central Heating, Erith – Signs & counter

Mr Central Heating, Erith – Signs & counter

When Mr Central Heating acquired their new distribution depot in Erith; they came to us to design and install a complete sign package. The specifications for the job were similar to that of their Portsmouth branch; but, on a much larger scale. As a result the Mr Central Heating signs are huge and the sales counter increased in length to 14 metres. In addition, there were to be 11 large advertising boards outside. Visitors would be able to use the new waypoint signs. They direct the deliveries to the rear of the building, and the customers to the front.

Mr Central Heating supply plumbing and heating supplies at lower prices than anyone in the industry across the UK. Since 1966 they have sold over 3 million boilers, 15 million radiators, and probably enough copper tube to go around the world several times. This new depot at Erith is huge. To give an idea of size, the floor plan is around 6900 m2 or 75,000 ft2.

The main Mr Central Heating and APP signs consisted of both large flex face signs and panel signs. In addition, digitally printed artwork covers the signs, matching the corporate colours. To aid navigation of the huge site, waypoint signs have been installed, which direct deliveries and customers to the appropriate locations. We constructed the counter with a steel framework. Designed to be modular, it could travel to site in smaller sections, then put together and levelled. Additionally, we fitted painted panels to the front, and internally as shelving. We routed the top surface from Staron. Again, this counter is huge! So we made the Staron counter top in sections and joined it on site. We sanded it to look like a single, continuous counter. Inside, the counter features shelving, power sockets, and communications ports.

Mr Central Heating- Portsmouth: Signs & counter

Mr Central Heating- Portsmouth: Signs & counter

Mr Central Heating opened a new branch in Portsmouth. As a result, Mr Central Heating wanted signs featuring their new logo, and a smart sales counter for the new install. We created a full sign package which included external signs, window graphics, and that 6 metre long sales counter.

Mr Central Heating supply plumbing and heating supplies at lower prices than anyone in the industry across the UK. Since 1966 they have sold over 3 million boilers, 15 million radiators, and probably enough copper tube to go around the world several times. We successfully tendered against nine other companies for the work.

The Mr Central Heating and APP main signs consisted of both flex face and panel signs with digitally printed artwork, matching the corporate colours. Staff and customer parking signs were provided. The building had six signs attached. The remainder were installed on the grass bank with stakes. We built the sales counter, including a steel framework and the Staron top. It has internal shelving, power sockets, and communications ports.

Shalimar Indian Restaurant: New shop front & sign

Shalimar Indian Restaurant: New shop front & sign

Shalimar Indian Restaurant were looking to expand their business in to the shop next door. So they came to us to help achieve this. They had seen signs in London which they had admired; and came to us with some photos and a printed menu. Working with the guys at Shalimar, we digitised their logo from their menu. We then set to creating a new Shalimar shop front and sign. Therefore this meant designing a package that would exceed their exceptions, using their photographs for inspiration.

Shalimar is a stunning, contemporary Indian Restaurant in Waterlooville, who pride themselves on their innovative cuisine from all across India. They provide truly impeccable service and gorgeous interiors in which you can relax and enjoy your meal.

The new Shalimar shop front, sign, and more

Firstly, we installed a full shop front, spanning both stores. This included 5 metre long, single panes of glass each side. As a result, customers get an unobstructed view. We powder coated the custom, all aluminium shop front to match the sign. On the front is an outdoor menu box. In addition, there are doors for the entrance and fire escape.

Likewise, the sign covers the full width of the building. It has fret cut wording, which is LED lit. In the centre of the sign, there is a 2.5 metre extruded curve. Internal LEDs illuminate the individual 3D letters. Beneath the sign is a huge, full width remotely operated awning, which shades from the sun on beautiful days. The central extended curve, wrapped with the Shalimar logo, draws people to the entrance.

Finally inside, we created CNC routed, flame polished acrylic panels to adorn the top of the eating booths. We decorated the dividers with gold and etched cut vinyl graphics.
